Mount Mtsatminda
Mtsatminda - “Holy Mountain” or, as it is commonly called, Mount of David, in honor of the Holy Apostle David of Gareji, who led the life of a hermit and lived in a cave on its slope. David was one of the 13 Syrian fathers who returned to Georgia in the 6th century to spread the Christian religion.
Mount Mtatsminda is located in the very center of the city in the middle of the main avenue of Tbilisi - Rustaveli. From here a breathtaking panorama of Tbilisi opens. The city seems to lie in the palm of your hand from the heights of Mtsatminda. Here there is a television tower - 276 meters in height, a small church of St. David dating back to the 19th century, as well as a small cemetery where prominent Georgian figures are buried: People's Artist Sergo Zakariadze, Russian poet A. S. Griboedov, his wife Nina Chavchavadze. On Mount Mtatsminda there is also an outstanding example of fortification of the 4th century. – Narikala fortress.
